www.gamesradar.com/ds/little-red-riding-hoods-zombie-bbq/g-20080609163443690076 Little Red riding hood. Anyway yeah those are really weird games. I think it all depends on your definition of weirdness. My definition includes obscure and innovative combat. It also includes a certain charm or flavor that can make it weird. Like cactus' games are obscure in the non-indie community and have something new or weird in each game. Like Clean Asia! could be seen as another bullet hell shmup if you take off all the fancy doodads cactus puts in to make it awesomely strange. The flavor of the game matters too. A FPS is harder to make weird due to the fact that whenever someone say "First person shooter" most people automatically think of completely non-weird games like halo and gears of war but us weird folk think of 2-D sprites and puzzle gameplay. And now that I'm thinking about my definition of weird games I've decided that Psychonauts is not weird at all. It is a linear platformer that a lot of people played and that these people (me included) like to think it's weird. I hope this is all making sense. It makes sense when it comes spewing out of my head but my grammar doesn't like the things spewing out of my head.

sorry I think I confused "weird" with "obscure". I should stop talking- my karmas starting to fall fast but I found this quote of of wikipedia for tempest "The game was initially meant to be a 3D remake of Space Invaders, but such early versions had many problems, so a new design was used. Theurer says that the design came from a dream where monsters crawled out of a hole in the ground." And I have played it there is a link there for the on line version supplied by atari games.atari.com/arcade.php?game=tempest and for The Club, I was hooked on Bizarre Entertainment since I played Geometry wars and I heard a lot of hype from it. And Toribash I heard about from here jayisgames.com/archives/2008/05/weekend_download_37.php Which is my homepage and also where I first heard about cactus. I'm not meaning to make anyone mad (please don't smite me) I'm just saying my thoughts- I'll shut up now.

May the new year bring many new ideas for games and the inspiration to create them. Seems to be more intent at bringing me shit, anxiety and just about anything that'd make you want to kill yourself I sure hope it turns around soon... Maybe it's a blessing in disguise... your games are all notable for their hidden meanings and surreal and dark look maybe this could help you make better games ... of course we all know your life isn't totally devoted to making games so here is one of my numerous quotes that I decide to remember along with " the cake is a lie". " If it don't kill you it can only make you stronger...

some of these aren't as strange as others like toribash (awesome game) and tempest and the club now that I'm thinking about it. But for mainstream games that are still weird- one of my all-time favorites... Psychonauts!

I was thinking about doing this sort of thing the other day, but you have to use ALL of the characters including that one guy without arms from the "small adventure game" which I can't think of the name right now... Uhh you control a robot in one section and there is a lady with dancing boobs.

I have a tendency to think that the people who make the stuff I like will like the other stuff I like, and it isn't aways true, but you might like this: www.elsiehooper.com/comics/comic000.shtml I do, anyways Wow, that was awesome- i'm only on page 65 and I think this is the only comic that can make tassles look manly.EDIT! Finished the entire series so far and wow... holy crap thats great! Violence, A decent story, a great art style... wow thank you. Reminds me of Fight Club for some reason.

I don't know, but I might do a Japanese advertisement for Mondo Dairiten before actually releasing it. I'm not sure where it's going to be hosted, however. It's either Cactus' hosting (for whatever he uses to store his games online) or Vector.co.jp. Also, I just need one more non-terminal line before the game is fully translated in-game wise. Whether or not I should include the terminal sequence is up to Cactus. My personal choice is to not include it for two reasons: - Game Maker 7, once again, only can output from the ASCII table and not any other language table. That means direct Japanese input is not permitted; otherwise, I would be putting all this text directly into the game instead of going through all this trouble putting text on IMAGES. - Direct input KATAKANA fonts are all designer style. I can't really find a NORMAL direct input katakana font online, and I don't have a font creator to transcribe all the katakana (and some symbols, numbers, and letters) into a direct input font. Also, I thank my newfound initiation to the Cactus fan club. Thank you.your in the cactus fan club as soon as you hit 50 posts

hear that cactus? The expectations are high. Of the concerns I've found that people are scared that (1) It won't look or feel like the original (2) the jumping puzzles and (3) it won't be original. Good luck meeting the hype/expectaton cactus! Injecting my own input into this: Agency had that guy that stuff flew out of his head, Medicals had screamy mouthie guy, what's next?
