Holy crap, it's 1995 and you have gone over to your rich friends house for a gaming jam. He's rich, so you know you should be able to score a good feed if nothing else. Entering the lobby (he has a lobby!?!?!) you are led to his room. A turret style of room which can only be accessed by a secret elevator, the entrance of which is hidden in a broom closet (he has an elevator?!?!), ok I digress. Finally you both sit and he offers you a chilled carbonated beverage, on the condition you use only one hand to crack open the seal.
He reaches behind a grey box to flip a black switch. The sound of a fluorescent light sparks and the giant CRT monitor begins to glow with a dark black. Then.... no operating system (I thought he was a rich guy), wait a sec... the chime comes in and boom windows 95 glows on screen. A desktop littered with pixelated icons flood the screen, and you know its time for some gaming.

All of us have the childhood memories of hammering the rigid keyboards to move our low res heroes around some platforms.
I was hoping we could share a few of the old games we used to play, either DOS or win95, and celebrate what 1mb game broke our cyber hymens as we gladly traded our digital virginity for the promise of sore eyes, sore fingers, and something to day dream about all day at school.
For me, it began in 1994, when my parent bought a mac, and my mother gave me kidpix and prince of persia. I had to use the manual to find the right letters to move on through the games. The last letter of the third word, of the fifth sentence on the twenty third page.
Later I experimented with Commander Keen, Imaginopolis (McZee), Clydes Revenge, Scunny Kart, Jammit, Alien Carnage, Decent, Lemmings, Castle of Winds, Major Stryker, Mad Dogg Williams, Jill of the Jungle, Doom, Duke Nukem, Wolfenstein, Epic Pinball, Squarez, Invasion of the Mutant Space Bats of Doom, God of Thunder, Hexen, Jetpack, Zone 66, Math Blaster, Word Rescue. All of the old Sierra Games, police quest, space quest, heroes quest...
I could go on, but this arc continued, until I started to get a bit more advanced when we eventually got our compaq presario. I then played command and conquer red alert, age of empires, beavis and butthead in virtual stupidity, 3d movie maker, mdk, warcraft 1 and 2, carmageddon, ski free, mech warrior, simcity, sim tower, Monster Truck Madness.
Anyway those are just a couple, if you have any thoughts on the more obscure ones listed let me know. A lot of those games listed I only had the demos for, but I would play the demos again and again for hours.
For example, did anyone play Clydes revenge, damn I loved the atmosphere in that game. The music is just awesome.
