The name of the game is Citizen Abel: Gravity Bone, and it's one of the most thrillingly obtuse games I've ever played. It plays like a FPS but you never use a weapon. The story is obscure at best and ends up doing a complete 180 in your face. It feels like a piece of early 1900's abstract cinema turned into a game. Awesome art style and brilliant use of the Quake 2 engine. It runs on its own, but you need to register on FileFront to download it. Main site: blended.planethalflife.gamespy.com/gravitybone/Sorry, but I can't find any picture links. Take my word for it, it's fun.

Yeah, I just saw this on the Indie Games blog, and it looks pretty cool. I haven't downloaded it yet, but I'll try it out.

Ouch. Yeah, there are lots of effects that weren't originally part of the Quake II engine (that I know of) like lighting, shadows, etc., so it's probably due in part to an old engine trying to pull off new tricks.

This is a pretty cool game, and I love the artistic style of it.
There's also four other Citizen Abel levels available, which require Quake 2 to play. They're a little awkward to find, but I'll try them once I've posted this.
EDIT:
Okay, so now I realise that they're all available on his site, but only if you choose to view the old version instead of the new. Then they are all available to download, along with quite a few other things of his.
The original four Citizen Abel level sets are quite different to Gravity Bone, using mostly the same graphics as Quake 2, with more focus on story and navigating terrain, but still have a bit of combat involved, and most episodes take place after the events of Quake 2. They do have a few bugs though.
I've gotten through the first two and part of the third (which I can't continue on due to a bug, I'll try and get it working), but unless some big reveal happens in the fourth, it looks like Gravity Bone is a completely different continuity. Although that's implied enough by the major change in graphical style.

Decrease the resolution, it sped the game up for me A LOT.
Also, I (would) love the game, but it crashes for me when loading after I die so I didn't get further than after-the-photos in the second mission.
