Hey everyone, I'm posting representing an up-and-coming gaming site called videogam.in. We're really excited about the site launch (hopefully sometime early next year), and once we're live I hope to see some of you frequenting what is sure to be an amazing site.
Anyways, I'm on staff at the site, and I've been writing coverage on Cactus' games for our massive game database, but I realized that since Cactus' games never had boxes, they don't have boxart! Sad...
So then I thought 'hey! There's a lot of wonderful and talented people on the Cactus forums!'
So here's the deal: From now until midnight on December 31st, 2008, you can submit entries for mockup boxart to any of Cactus' games. I've decided not to put any kind of restrictions on size or format (although the image must be either a .gif, .jpg, or .bmp). Just post your image here on this thread, or, if you're shy and don't want the world to see your awesomness, then you can just PM me your image.
After the deadline hits, all the entries will be grouped according to game, and then Matt (the head of videogam.in), Cactus, and I will choose the best of the best of the best to be permanently featured on videogam.in (and probably elsewhere eventually).
This contest is being run simultaneously on these forums and the videogam.in forums (which are currently on closed beta, but will open soon).
I've probably forgotten a number of things, but if so, I'll come back here and edit this. For now, good luck to everybody and I can't wait to see some entries!

well, since aveletrian appears to have disappeared, I'm gonna try and continue the Cactus cubee's series. I'm a terrible artist, but I love Cactus games, and I love cubees, so I'm gonna do my best.

Just because we unwashed heathens cannot always understand the complex genius of your games, Cactus, does not in the least diminish their quality.

hm. I love weird games. I LOVE weird games. I LOVE Incredible Crisis, and it pisses me off to no end that there isn't a sequel yet for the DS, because that system would be perfect for it. Some others to check out:
Jesus: Dreadful Bio-Monster - Not really that weird of a game, I just love the title. It's never been translated into english, which sucks since its an adventure game, but most of the characters are all named after biblical characters and the Bio-Monster actually lives on a space station called Jesus. Ah, those wacky Japanese!
Keio Flying Squadron: Gameplay-wise, a pretty basic shmup (although damn hard), but the fact that you play as a 14-year-old girl dressed in a bunny suit riding a dragon (with smaller satellite dragons, of course) fighting giant disembodied cat heads gives it some weird points with me.
Carnage Heart: A 'mech game where you don't actually fight with your mechs. I know, I know, that defeats the purpose, but its really quite cool. You build and program all your mechs (or Over-Kill Engines) before you go into combat, and then send them forth into battle, having only a modicum of control. High learning curve, but very addictive once you get into it.
Tail of the Sun: Another Artdink masterpiece, (No One Can Stop Mr. Domino and Carnage Heart were both Artdink games) Tail of the Sun has you playing as a caveman trying to build a blasphemous tower of mammoth tusks all the way up to the sun. Some very strange gameplay concepts, but they all worked out in the end. One of the first games that actually made open-ended adventure gameplay work.
Dangit, now I feel a burning desire to go back and replay these.

hm. Overthinking though it may be, I totally love the idea of 65386 being a young priest, and Agency being a direct prequel to Medicals. Maybe the next entry will see a totally different (and therefore exactly the same) character trying to track down an escaped patient (or perhaps merely a victim...) before he spreads the Terminal (?) Illness....

hmm. I think I am more afraid of the music from Resident Evil 4 than I am this, but that says something good about its quality right there. This inspires me to try my own hand at a mondo composition of questionable nature...

See, I have a vision of the Priest/Mickey fight going something like this.
Mickey, in all his awesomeness, would start trying to go all cac-fu on the priest, at which point the priest would cure him. Then the priest would turn towards the screen and cure the player, fourth wall be damned.

I can't download it. It keeps trying to download the .mp3, but its finding a different file in its place, and its an 'unknown file type'.

not so much a bizarre twist on reality so much as unique commentary on the essence and futility of human life.
