I made this game as a submission for the Poppenkast Game Noir Competition. Since I've been greatly influenced by your work, I'd be honored to get some feedback. Yoyogames link: www.yoyogames.com/games/show/72583

I like the graphics, and the game is interesting. I didn't quite get it, though. Are there several endings to the game? It seems like I made the wrong choice when I killed the guy who fell into the ocean. The sound effects could've been better. Seeing as the graphics are very retro, you could've used SFXR for the game. And I don't get why the game's so large (13 megs!). Another thing that kind of irked me was that the text fade ins and fade outs weren't very smooth and same there were generally a few rough edges in the game (enemies disappearing without any effect, the shooting looked a bit stiff etc). With some polish this could become a real gem I think

Thanks! Yeah, this game has a lot of rough edges since it was made under pressure. I'm not entirely sure why it's so huge, though it's probably because I had to add a lot of new objects late in the development cycle to get it done in time. As far as the story goes, I could have been more clear. While I don't want to spoil the story for anyone, the whole idea was to create a story that intentionally confounded player expectations, as opposed to wussy games like Fallout 3 that simply give the player whatever he/she wants based on their dialogue choices. And yes, there are two endings. Forgot to mention that.

Btw, I downloaded SFXR and it's an absolute godsend. Can't thank you enough!

I'd try this out, but Yoyo games seems to have broken down and started crying. Sounds like an interesting game, and I'll try it out as soon as it's actually possible for me to do so.
