I want people to register in this forums, so here's how to get a killer score for Protoruga. - Play absorb. Terry's score is impossible to beat. - Turn colors off. It's a lot easier to make out red and blue bullets. - If you can't stay in the middle of the screen to shoot at a boss, try to collect a stream of bullets with the same color, then tap the special attack button (C key) repeatedly. - Press R to restart quickly without the need to go back to the main menu. - Play enemies in order. Using the normal setting means easier bosses are skipped at a faster rate. - Play at a resolution of 640 x 480. - Donate to cactus and I'll put your name somewhere in the top three.

Hey Tim, thanks for that. The colors and in order tricks definitely helped me a bunch. At least, it gave me the leg up to overtake Kairos. But I'm shooting for the stars.

I was thinking about posting tips for Silent Chain, but you guys are already getting too good with Protoruga.

This is a great game. I like the subtitles that appear at the beginning of the game. For some reason I am having trouble with highscores on all GM games. It won't submit them for some reason. Still a great game despite my highscore problem and you really did show that Aces High Over whatever game what 3d should look like, sexy, just like this. Hope you like my sunglasses.

I like this game, particularly as an opportunity to play Ikaruga-style bullet catching. It is easier and more fun than Kairuga (by ABA games, I think). I played Ikaruga once, on a PAL GameCube.
However, one thing I don't understand, after I die a few times and my timer in the bottom right corner hits zero, the game starts over straight away. I find that jarring. It should go to the title screen.
Also, since Absorb and Shield modes are so different, they should be selectable on the title screen (if you don't want to have character select like Clean Asia), rather than hidden in the config menu.
Another suggestion, which would have been good for Ikaruga as well: Instead of one button for shot and another button for polarity switch, why not:
Button 1 (Z) Blue Shot, Button 2 (X) Red Shot. If the ship is blue, press X to switch to Red. Hold down X to shoot a stream of Red bullets. If the ship is red, press Z to switch to Blue. Hold down Z to shoot a stream of Blue bullets.
I predict if such a control system were implemented, people would get even higher scores.
Otherwise, I think it's perfect. Is there a way to 'complete' it? Kill all prototypes before timer runs out?

It's actually by Kairos, who made the more recent Varia. I'm sure he wouldn't mind that you mistook it for a Kenta Cho game though.

I love this game, especially the graphical effects when the bosses lose their cannons. But could you repost the link in the first post in here? It just says <description> and I'd like to see the highscore tables ;D
P.S: Is Protoganda II out yet?

Wow, Protoganda II is very stylish. I was very surprised when I got killed by a falling enemy part - Didn't know that was possible. ;D But there don't seem to be any score system. Oh well guess I have to live with that
