No matter how intimidating, I think it's best not to think about a concrete Mondo universe and just think of it as just...uhmm...separate episodes that seem related, but really are not.
Besides, no matter how much you think about it, taking apart Mondo in search for a concrete concept or even a theme is impossible. Not hard, not really hard, not near-impossible, but just plain, flat-out, stick-it-to-the-man IMPOSSIBLE, at least considering what Cactus has said about key points in some of the Mondo content.

Seeing as I seem to be the one who started overthinking this, I'd say that connection would make the Mondo universe lose some of its incomprehensible charm, but that it would also be interesting if we could see connections - really, either way works. I suppose proponents of the first view could enjoy the games as they are, and proponents of the second can find related elements and see how they fit together. As for concrete themes, well: The asthetic for the games are similar, and the games have occasionally similar events (see possible Terminal Illness/cancer links?). Um, it might be impossible to find concrete concepts, but unsolid concepts? Plenty... well, at a stretch.
...have I written myself into a corner on this? I hope not.
(Off topic: Johtoken, may I ask what's the deal with your signature? It sounds vaguely like the Boss's monologues, so I suppose it's just a purposeful mishearing.)

fire... that's new. This one has more of a "o god there is something going to pop out and kill" type of feel- like "the mist" or maybe it was the montage...

Nice! I think I said this on the youtube page too, but it looks very intriguing. Love the imagery, especially the fire and insects

...wow. That's really something! More complex than any Mondoworld features we've seen so far, that's for sure. And... I think I have a hunch about what exactly that burning thing is...

Well, hopefully I'll finish it this year. Right now I'm aiming at getting it playable for IGF submission, so hopefully I'll get a lot done this week.
