Cactus, how do you make you avatars and .gif pictures repeat themselves when they are on a website. Do you use a different image editor, or just the GM one? I'm curious, because my .gif pictures never repeat themselves.

How do you go about using .mod and .xm music files in your games?
I've been looking into DLLs thinking it would be fairly simple to learn how to use them,but i've underestimated the whole thing.

It's very simple actually. I use bass. Just:
bgm_Init();
song=bgm_loadMod("banana.xm");
bgm_Play(song,1);
Or something like that.

Cactus—is you presentation from IGS '09 still available anywhere? I remember I downloaded it at one point, and thoroughly enjoyed it. But I don't seem to have it anymore, and the hosting site all the old news articles point to, willhostforfood, is dead.
EDIT: Woooo I am awesome. In all my hoarding I DID still have it from when I downloaded it a year ago! Good times. While I'm here, does anyone else want it? It really is brilliant stuff.
EDIT EDIT: Okay my computer got stolen a bit ago, I have a new one now and most of my stuff was backed up but LONG STORY SHORT I no longer have a copy of Presentation.  Does ANYONE have a copy of this??

Hello Cactus !
I'm a new member in this forum though I've been visiting it from time to time.
I'm also a beginner at Game Maker.
I just wanted to say, everytime i lose interest in game-making, your games excite me and put me on the road again. Thanks for that. You're one great inspiration to me (and to many others).
Ok so you use the GM editor for sprites, but how do you make them move so smooth ? I see that you make a simple sprite first but you make it interesting with coding. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not asking for any code, I just want to learn some essential things from the master, if He is willing to teach.

Cactus, I can't figure out how you do such amazing work with surfaces!
I've posted in the game maker community about blurring and working with them and all I can get is a basic overview of how to use the basic surfaces and draw functions which I already understand..
Specifically Ad Nausiem 2 when the game slows down (I don't know if this is my computer or an effect, either way I like it) and the sprites blur outwards from the explosion changing color. Thanks!
