PING PONG!
Do you have what it takes to beat four opponents? Are you ready to go face to face with a friend to see who's the ultimate champion of ping pong? Prepare yourself to be blown away by this incredible sports simulation, unlike anything you've ever played before!

Ping Pong rules: 1. When you hit the ball it has to go to other player's side of the net before it bounces. 2. If the ball leaves the table without bouncing, the player who did not send it off gets a point. 3. Two serves each. 4. First to eleven wins.
Instructions: -Press z when the ball touches you to hit it -You can hold the arrow keys for different hits -Right to smash -Left for less speed -Up for spinn to make the ball go faster after the bounce -Down for spinn to make the ball go slower after the bounce -Hit the ball seven times in a row to do super smash
IMPORTANT!!! HITTING THE BALL WILL ONLY CHANGE IT'S HORIZONTAL VELOCITY, IT DOES NOT AFFECT THE BALLS VERTICAL SPEED!

Well, once you understand how to play, all you need is some practice and you'll beat it real easily.

I liked it a lot. It was a bit difficult to figure out, as I seemed to hit it off the table every time the ball gained speed. But once I figured out the timing of it, I was pretty successful. I haven't had much time to try to beat it as I am finishing up a game for a contest, but I will definitely be coming back to it.

When I saw this mentioned on indiegames' blog, I thought "shit just hit the paddle".
But then I downloaded it and it turned out more elegant than it seemed. I did the training, played a bit and concludes that it's hard but a bit strategic (in addition to random). My average best score got a loss, 2:11.
But then I just mindlessly mashed the Z button anytime I was close to the ball and this improved my score to an average of 7:11. So I thought again, "shit just hit the paddle".
Hope I didn't sound offensive The idea is nice and it's certainly unique. But aside from your name stapled to it and the graphic style, it's the "wow I need this to master this game - oh wait why bother" kind of thing.
Still nice to see it and maybe I'll go back to that ^_^

Well, tapping the hit button might give an ok success rate compared to 2:11, but it definitely won't let you beat the game.

Wow, that's a great interview. Personally, I enjoyed PING PONG! for what it was, even if it did kinda go under the radar as far as cactus games go. It's good to have a less crazy cactus game every once in a while. Refreshing!
Good luck with Flash, cactus! I'm glad you're already earning a little bit of money from Lo-Fi Minds, and I hope more comes your way soon. You deserve it.

What I like most in this game are music and sound effects. Really awesome. Visually it look's pretty good, but compared to your other games maybe bit hmm... dull?
Personally I prefer more experimental and "odder" games of yours, but anyway I enjoyed PING PONG! and it's a cool little game.
EDIT: Oh, I almost forgot: F1R57 P057!!!

Major success!
First off, the opening screen really grabs your attention with awesome music and screen dissolve. Also a nice touch was the screen size. You didn't waste any space by adding an audience, referee or whatnot.
Like how you kept it simple with only two levels of difficulty. Games with easy, medium, hard, expert, nightmare, crazy, insane.. really irk me for some reason.
The controls are fun to figure out, the practice session is intuitive but not overlong, and here's the best part of Ping Pong: the game takes skill to master! Even though players only have a split second to react, there is an even disparity of consequence depending on whether they choose fast shot, slow shot, short clip, etc.
It took me a few playthroughs to beat all the guys, but I am revisiting now to beat the game in "realistic" mode. By the way, what are the differences between the two modes of play? Seems to me after one match that "realistic" is the mode of choice because it utilizes more strongly the control mechanics. Perhaps rename the other mode "wussy".
Please make more sports games! Mainstream sports games are in such a rut these days because developers seem to think the way to improve their series year to year is to add more buttons, make player facial expressions more realistic, add frivolous things such as special moves... these guys don't know how to make their games exciting.
Sports games are way more fun when developers just keep it simple. And that's what Ping Pong is: simple, challenging, and exciting.
Can't wait to try the two player mode!

BTW, Slam hits are spectacular. For anyone who has played ping pong, this is what a good slam really feels like; a rush to the head, a momentary lapse of time, and a burst of colors. (Or at least that's just me)

Glad you liked it!

It's just that you can't get the super smash in realistic mode, making the chance of longer exchanges bigger.
